Why Give? Our entire family will plant ourselves in Trujillo for the Summer and come alongside of local ministries to advance the spiritual and physical needs of the people. Having served as missionaries in the region for eight years, we know the needs, challenges and blessings of being missionaries.
God has blessed us with a teaching role in Phoenix and that gives us the opportunity to pour our lives in those nine valuable weeks of the summer. We have all of the typical expenses that anyone else would have in the USA, and that is where our salary will go. God willing, Chip will be back teaching at Christian Studies courses at Grand Canyon University in the Fall!
The expenses we are raising break down in two basic categories. Our Transportation costs are for airfare from Phoenix to Lima and back. After we are in Peru, we will have a day or two in Lima before traveling by bus to Trujillo. Since airfares seem to do nothing but go up, we need to take care of this as soon as possible. The second part of our expenses are for “Living” in Peru. We will have to have housing and special international travel insurance, taxis and ministry funds.
How much money are your raising? Our budget brakes down like this:
- Transportation Costs $6,000
- “Living” in Peru $6,000
- Housing
- Insurance
- Taxis/Bus
- Ministry Funds
- Total $12,000
Does everyone have a role?
- Chip will be traveling with the teams and coordinating work with pastors in Trujillo.
- Julie will be handling a good deal of logistics and working with the people who do the cooking, in addition to working with the teams in Alto Trujillo.
- Matthew is a group leader. He is coming in with the first Grand Canyon team and then staying on for the summer.
- Katie is a translator, working with teams in Alto Trujillo.
- Thomas is a sound tech. He will be working with the churches and helping to make sure that audio and video are working when our groups go out.
- Bryan is a group leader. He will be coming with the second Grand Canyon team and will stay on as long as his vacation time permits.
- Please note that the budget is for actual expenses only.
Is this a vacation? No, but please do not blame us if we have a great time! At present, we are expecting to host two different teams of Grand Canyon University students during the first and third weeks of June. Another group, made up of churches that would otherwise not be able to put a team together, is in the process of forming for early July. When not with groups, we will be doing the regular work of ministry.
I would like to give toward the mission, but can I get a tax deduction? Yes you can! Any donations made to this summer-long, family mission trip are tax deductible when made through Vine and Branches Global Ministries, a non-profit 501-c-3 organization (www.vabgm.com). Make the check out to VABGM and mark “Peru” in the memo of the check. You will receive an acknowledgment from VABGM and an email from us.
